FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HumbleBeads Make Mighty Jewelry.

Bead artist Heather Powers shines in the national spotlight.

San Antonio, TX, October 5, 2005 – Colorful pieces of clay sit on Heather Powers work table, waiting to bloom into beads that are making their way all across the country.  Mixed media bead artist, Heather Powers has been creating her collection of beads inspired by the colors and textures of nature for over 10 years.  She’ll be demonstrating her use of polymer and precious metal clay creating her dragonfly pendant on HGTV’s popular show, “That’s Clever!” formerly known as “Crafters Coast to Coast” that will air in October.  Along with that segment, Bead Style Magazine will be demonstrating her Cuff Bracelet design on an upcoming episode of PBS’s “Beads, Baubles and Jewels.”

“I create beads using a very humble material transforming brightly colored clay into elegant designs in the sophisticated color schemes borrowed from Mother Nature.” Heather notes.  The artist studied painting and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art before pursuing her love of color theory with polymer clay.  “I’m very drawn to the low-tech aspect of polymer, using my hands, a pasta machine and tissue blade, I can create an unending array of beads.  Each bead uses techniques that can only be produced by hand.   It’s a very meditative art form.  I’m totally into the Zen of bead making!”  Heather’s work sings with the motifs, images and colors of nature’s amazing beauty.  Dragonflies, cherry blossoms, ginkgo leaves and bamboo are just a few of the images that are represented in her beads.  “I choose my imagery and colors based on my desire to share my love of nature and the quiet beauty in the world around us.”

Heather’s beads have been enjoyed by bead enthusiasts all over the country and across the world via her website.  Offering her unique style in polymer clay beads, Heather has built up a following through magazine how-to articles and promotion of her online boutique.  Her website features beads and kits for the jewelry artist and bead collector.  Heather teaches all over the country, sharing her innovative polymer clay techniques and is currently writing a book on her explorations in clay.
