Heather Powers is an innovative bead and jewelry artist, creating art beads collected by bead enthusiasts all over the world. Her work has been featured on television, in magazines and books. Her mixed media jewelry designs are sold locally at art galleries and markets. Heather graduated from art school with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Kendall College of Art & Design. Heather is also the organizer and planner of the Bead Cruise. This is an annual event that travels for 7 days to tropical islands while nationally known instructors teach classes. She is also the founder and editor of the Art Bead Scene. The Art Bead Scene is an interactive blog that celebrates art beads and inspires those who use them.

The Artist's Inspirations:

My greatest joy is to inspire others to find their creative voice. Through my writing and design work I hope to encourage others to grab hold of what captures their imagination and spirit.

My inspirations stem from my childhood home on the shores of Lake Michigan and in the woods of my sleepy hometown. Birds, tree branches, leaves, flowers and sundries from the sea reflect the beauty of nature that inspires all of my work. When I'm not looking to nature for inspiration, I study the artwork of artist who find their muse in the natural world. A few of these artists include Van Gogh, Monet and Gustav Klimt.
